Throwback to realizing how much I love no-gi Jiu-Jitsu and having a blast teaching yoga a few miles from where my parents grew up. My journey on the mat began at age 5 in wrestling. I was introduced to formal Jiu-Jitsu by a co-worker late 2018, and have since then transitioned to a style more similar to my roots. Looking forward to more training with my brothers and boyfriend, and drilling with my best friend Kristina.
If you had asked me 15 years ago if I would ever try yoga, I would have laughed. And said no.
Life was all about lifting hard, wrestling, and exceeding all my goals.
March 2019 will be 5 years as a business owner, with yoga as the center - the "glue" - to my way of life.
Did not see that coming.
I still have moments when I'm teaching, when I see myself from the student's point of view, and realize I'm a yoga instructor. Then I try really hard not to laugh as I wonder: "How'd that happen?"
It just did. Things kept coming at me, and I kept saying yes. A lot of work? Absolutely. But a different kind of work than I had ever experienced before. There was nothing forced. Timing always perfect before I even knew it would be. And for the first time, a sense of complete trust in this being what I am meant for; why I am here.
Full circle. Putting it all together. Now a Doctor of Physical Therapy to infuse more science, without losing the art. Back to weightlifting. Recently got into Jiu-Jitsu. Grateful for phenomenal coaches in each.
This feels complete. Excited for 2019.
